Remember Charter Day? A fun November half-day kicking off Thanksgiving break with Mass in the theater, plenty of sweet treats back in homeroom, learning which family from Marillac House your homeroom would be adopting, enjoying the highly anticipated, ICC-sponsored Charter Day Show and inter-class contest for the most “talent,” all capped off with a birthday cake and everyone singing “Happy Birthday” to our dear Marillac High School.
Charter Day was plenty of fun, but also a time to honor and celebrate the spirit of St. Louise that had been handed down to each girl who walked the Marillac halls and to extend that spirit through the homeroom gift collection and Christmas Party at Marillac House.
It is in that same spirit that the Coming Home Legacy invites you to celebrate Charter Day once again on “Giving Tuesday,” November 28, 2017, from 7-9pm to connect with fellow alums, and to lend time, talent, and/or treasure to the work still being done by the Daughters of Charity in Chicago through Marillac St. Vincent Family Services and St. Joseph Services.
JOIN US, in any of the following ways!
- At Hackney's on Lake (1514 E. Lake Ave., Glenview) on November 28th from 7-9pm and bring an unwrapped gift from the wish list for the Marillac House Christmas Store, "adopt" a student from the St. Joseph Services after-school program and bring something from their wish list, or bring a stocking stuffer for the children at both locations! RSVP BELOW. Connect with fellow alums, enjoy free appetizers and a cash bar and wrap gifts while trading stories from past Charter Days!
- In spirit—purchase a gift off the wish list for the Marillac House Christmas Store or "adopt" a student from the St. Joseph Services after-school program and we will deliver your gifts for you. And please enclose a gift receipt so we can acknowledge your gift(s)!
- In spirit—make a donation to support the Marillac Coming Home campaign, benefiting the educational programs of Marillac St. Vincent and St. Joseph Family Services. See our website for more information , including matching gift information.
- Volunteer: The Marillac House Christmas Store, where families shop for presents for their loved ones, is open December 16th from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and is in need of volunteers! The St. Joseph Services Three Kings Day Celebration, the evening of January 10th, is also in need of volunteers! Sign up here to volunteer with fellow Marillac alums.
